There are several scholarships available to students enrolled in or accepted to occupational therapy or occupational therapy assistant programs.

Each year the Occupational Therapy Association of Oregon (OTAO) offers up to four scholarships available to students accepted to, or enrolled in, an occupational therapy or occupational therapy assistant program.  The amount available for each scholarship is based on donations received and funds raised by the annual Scholarship Silent Auction held the previous year at the OTAO Annual Conference.  Applicants must be members of OTAO. Link to: Scholarship Application

The 2010 OTAO Scholarship amounts will be $1000.00 each, and there will be three (3) awarded this year. Applications must be received by June 1st.

OTAO Scholarship Timeline:

  • Applicants can turn in application any time after June 1st
  • Completed essay/application must be submitted (post-marked) by September 1st
  • Applications read and “scored” by October 1st and Scholarships are awarded at Annual State Conference.

The American Occupational Therapy Foundation (AOTF) also has the following scholarships available:

1.    The Shirley Elings Memorial Scholarship for $600.00 is available to an Occupational Therapy Assistant who would like to continue their education in Occupational Therapy.  Applicant must be an OTA accepted to an accredited occupational therapy program.

2.    OTAO has a scholarship through AOTF for $1,100.00 for an occupational therapy student attending Pacific University.  This reflects the combination of the OT Student at Pacific scholarship amount of $600.00, as well as the amount previously allocated for an occupational therapy assistant  attending Mt. Hood Community College in the amount of $500.00.  Since the OTA program has been closed the scholarship has been combined and is now $1,100.00.

Applications for these two scholarships can be obtained from the AOTF web site at: http://www.aotf.org/html/general_information.shtml
